Emily LaPlume started Saturday Swimwear after spending her junior year of college studying and traveling abroad. She was constantly searching for a swimsuit that could keep up with all of her adventures but couldn’t find it—so she decided to create it. In 2019, she shifted the entire focus of the company to put sustainability at the forefront. She built out a Ram ProMaster with her dad and turned it into a mobile home and bikini-making workshop. She landed in Bend, Oregon, shortly after and is now making her high-quality swimwear at a woman-owned sew studio here in the USA.
